The Ministry

The Ministry of Social Development and Something or Another has been trying to call me for a few days, there is NO way in hell you can manage to get back to them, so twice I had to drive down town to go there in person, just to have them tell/ask me whether or not I received payment for Billy in Dec and Jan. NO I did not, I said, just as I had stated on my monthly "we don't trust you" card. why in Gods name would I state I had NOT received money when they say I HAD? Is that not insane? So now, after another two trips down town *yes, I can afford this on the pittance, remember?* I now must go a third time, to take copies of my bank statements for that time period. ????? Are they kidding me? Well fine.. I will do that.. and every damn thing other than monies coming in? WHITE OUT!! I hate being poor, I am not really poor, I am BROKE (EN) and working on getting fixed.
When I am done with school there will be no holds barred then, I am going to advocate for women/men just like me now.. below the poverty line... WELL below the "mean" poverty line.
Fuck you to all you Ministry Folk

Women's Studies

I am taking WST 101 (that sounds soooo lame), which is a first year Uni course. I am loving it. I have already learned so much in a few short weeks and classes, I am amazed. I am going to continue down this avenue of study, I think... in the meantime, taking as many classes as I can get funding/grants for. I am still upgrading my maths which was really in bad shape. I am almost finally done with the one course... ready to start with part two. I am working on ratios and algebraic equations, crazy stuff, but I am getting it! I find out this week about this loaner comp becoming mine, which would be grand. Its pretty good, with all the right educational stuff loaded on it. I would love that.
My studies these next few weeks entail patriarchal society and hysterectomies. How come there are so many? So, looking up lots of info, stats and research.. I am actually rather flabbergasted by the results.
Enough for today..

Poverty in the current society

As I am clearly an nonprofessional there will be times when my writings are just a bunch of blither. There is a lot of stuff going on in the world right now, poverty is one of the main reasons for this blog, it is also a way of life for too many people. Child poverty is most prevalent in BC, Canada. We have had the dubious title of having the most "poor" children in Canada,  for 6 years in a row. This is sickening and needs to change.
"The number of poor children in BC was 121,000 – more than the total populations of Campbell River, Mission, Squamish and Vernon combined." *cities in BC*
....more to come later :)

Slippery

Slippery ©

“The slipperiest substance known to man”

By all accounts, Teflon ® is the slipperiest substance known to man. It is this that I will base my story on. It is this, Teflon, ® which I will try to get a grip on, to hang on to, and to anchor myself and my family to. There are many things in this world that make things harder or easier for some people, some races, some genders and some courses of life.  Harder things are blockages. They are blockages of life, finances, and upbringing; there are blockages to merely living, to some.
This is a story of the blockage in my life, not by my choosing, not by my making… but by the “Man”. We all know who the Man is. The Man is any shape, intellect or form of upper authority. It is slang for how the government, including its governing bodies, who prefer to talk to or treat anyone who is an “underling”. Being an underling is oppression. Being an underling is derogatory, and demeaning. There is a certain stigma involved, of course, as stigma seems to be associated with this type of living. It is downward and downhill. It is low living. It is under educated. It is lazy. It is lackadaisical. It has no gumption, no ambition, no need to evolve. It has no reason to carry on. It has no reason to be supported by the rich, the taxpayers, the doctors, lawyers, and burghers of our society. It has no reason, other than to be a burden on the existence of others. Perhaps if it has paid its own taxes at one point, perhaps if it has served our community, does it deserve to carry on? Does it then deserve to be the burden?
